The urban art of Joshua Callaghan: the man who can turn street objects invisible - Telegraph
I came across this photo article from the UK Telegraph that describes how one artist is disguising urban street scenes in Los Angeles, California, into works of art.
Actually he is hiding ugly eyesores and painting utility boxes, trash bins and other unsightly objects ,as if they weren’t there. It is amazing when you look at these photos. It appears that you are looking at a mirror or a pane of glass, but in reality, you are viewing a painting of a scene behind the actual object!
I think other cities should follow the example of Los Angeles and beautify it’s street with paintings that disguise ugly items such as trash containers, utility boxes, and maybe a large mural to hide empty ,trash-filled lots. I would also like to see a large mural hiding construction sites.
Major cities could benefit from such endeavors by hiring artists from contests to commission pieces of “art” . These art works could hide unsightly areas and provide more positive impressions for the cities’ tourism trade.
