Sunday Morning Warmup
It’s Sunday morning ,about 10 am central time and the weather for today looks promising.
The tempertures for the past week have been below freezing at night ,which made it feel more like late January around here. Being stuck in the house all week gave me endless ideas about crafting but I still haven’t made anything new.
I just pulled out the easel, paints, brushes, canvas, newspapers, and brought them out to the sunroom. Yes, for once this week, the sunroom is living up to its’ name. I am planning to paint a scene from Florida that I am missing terribly. I’m going to paint the blue skies, white sand,blue-green waters and try to feel the warmth of the sun.
Actually,it’s going to be one of my Christmas gifts that will go to my brother and wife. They live in sunny Florida where artists are arriving for their winter retreat from the cold. For many years, on an avenue by the name of Atlantic , artists would paint, draw sculpt and hang out in the little shops along this street.
The artist scene has moved closer to Boynton Beach ,ever since the real estate speculators started buying up properties in Delray Beach a few years ago. The properties along Atlantic Avenue became more desirable and landlords started upping the rents so high, that it forced many arts and crafts people to move out.
That always seems to be the case; money talks and *hit walks. Or art that is.
Artists will always be around. People need to create. They can live anywhere.
