Control your Writing and Profits

Control your Writing and Profits

Take control of your writing and profits by writing and publishing your own book. That sounds easy enough though, and there are many companies on the Internet that can help you. The old fashioned way of writing is changing as I wrote in yesterday’s post. A large book publisher,Harper-Collins, is experimenting with paying writers after the book comes out. They are splitting the profits 50-50, instead of the usual way of paying an advance as tradition dictated.

Many writers are seeking more control and self publishing your own work seems to be gain favor. We all have seen E-books offered on every subject. There are companies on websites such as writersweekly dot com. I like this site because it still lists and reviews traditional publishing companies that will print articles as well as books.

There are other ways to control your own writing and profits. Check out the reviews and read the community forum on each site. Also go to other writing forums and message boards and ask other writers’ experiences.

I’ve read that one form of self publishing to stay away from is the POD form. It seems that this will costs the writer too much and there are no guarantees of making money.

An article on  Foner Books suggest that authors buy a Borders book store or form a cooperative in order to ensure an equal footing in the publishing world. You can read more about it here;http://www.fonerbooks.com/cornered.htm Here are a few more sites I picked at random. I have no ties to any.Happy writing!Smile
