Recycled Christmas Gifts
Recycled Christmas Gifts
Recycled Christmas gifts are not re-gifting a gift that you just hated to receive.
The gifts season this year is a challenge this year and I was thinking of what I did when I was a young and couldn’t afford to buy a gift.
When I was very young, I would sew my own Barbie clothes because I couldn’t afford to buy fabric so I would cut up my clothes to make my doll clothes.
Of course, my mom wasn’t happy about this but I made her and others several gifts
from one clothing item.
The item I used was an old quilted bathrobe that was white, with blue designs and a blue trim.
I first cut out oven mitts for my grandmother, by drawing a mitten outline on the material that I doubled and then cut it out. I then sewed the two pieces together to complete it.
It was very easy to make.
The second item I made from my old bathrobe was an apron. I cut a strip of material about 36 inches long .and 4 inches wide. Fold over the strip and sew together where they meet. You may wan to add trim on the edge to dress it up.
The apron section is about 24 inches by 24 inches, more or less. You don’t have to double that up. Sew the edges and add trim if desired. Lastly, attach the long section of material on top as the tie. This apron didn’t have a bib. I didn’t have enough material f or that.
Look around the house; you will find many items that can be recycled for gifts. It just takes a little imagination.
